I feel another rant coming on….. March 12, 2008

The hall bathroom at work. It’s disgusting. There’s nothing like walking down the hall and having the poo smells wafting from under the doorway. It’s lovely, let me tell you. And then you walk in. And get hammered by the stench. When you look around, you notice paper towels and toilet paper littering the floor. It’s a sight to see. It gets better. The poo streaks left in the toilet. Can’t think of anything I like looking at less. Except, perhaps, when the poo and urine is on the floor. I like looking at that even less.

Now, I work in a hospital that caters mostly to the working poor and the indigent. So you expect this kind of mess. I know, that wasn’t a politically correct thing to say. But it’s true. That’s life. The really disgusting part, however is this. It’s the employee bathroom. It has a key-pad lock on it.  For crying out loud.

THIS IS THE STAFF MAKING THIS DISGUSTING MESS!    IN A HOSPITAL!    THE HOSPITAL STAFF!

What the heck is that about?

Opera, Shmopera March 12, 2008

Filed under: 3 generations out and about, opera — grrrarrrg @ 11:24 am

I wrote a whole story about our trip to the opera, and when I saved and published it, it only kept the title. Ppppttttttthhhhhhh! So there!

So, we went to the opera. Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”. If you don’t know anything about opera, Mozart wrote this one for the masses rather than the aristocracy for whom most opera was written. It’s goofy and fun, with crazy characters and a campy ending.

Long story short, three generations; Dad, me and B, all dressed up. B wore a suit. So cute. Hey, that rhymes! He recognised a song from the opera (one of my faves, sung by the Queen of the Night), he fell asleep, but would wake up to clap. Too funny. Three hours-a bit long for a kid. Next year, “The Mikado”. Lasts about and hour and a half.
