Thursday in Holy Week; the day before Good Friday; commemoration of the Last Supper of Christ. It also commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist. We have a foot washing ceremony at our Maundy Thursday service, the point of which is to remind us that we are here to serve. Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, a job that would normally fall to the servant of the house. He put himself in service to those around Him. It’s a good reminder. Our foot washing reminds us that we all serve God and one another. WE ALL SERVE. It’s hard sometimes. Really hard. Sometimes I want to make judgments left and right. Sometime I want to think that I’m better than someone else. But last Thursday I was reminded, yet again, that Christ served. He got down into the trenches and served. And so must I. I won’t always do it right, I won’t always do it well. But I’m going to keep trying.
Very interesting! I love stuff like this!
And I think you do pretty good at serving others. You’re a great mom and that’s a servant’s job if ever there was one!
